Brisbane City Council’s ‘More Homes, Sooner’ Amendment is a proposed update to the Brisbane City Plan that aims to deliver more diverse housing in well-connected suburbs while maintaining Brisbane’s unique suburban character. The changes focus on increasing housing choice in areas close to public transport, centres and essential services.
Your property may be affected if it is:
- Located within a Principal Centre, Major Centre, District Centre or Mixed Use Zone; or
- Within 400 metres walking distance of:
- a public transport interchange, or
- a frequent public transport service operating every 20 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes on weekends (between 7:00am and 7:00pm).
The proposed changes primarily target middle-ring suburbs and low to medium-density residential areas across Brisbane’s north, north-east, east, south, south-east and western suburbs. They also introduce updated planning provisions for building heights, lot sizes and residential design, which support more townhouses, apartments and other medium-density housing in suitable locations.
If you’re wondering whether your property or suburb is included, our team can help you understand how these proposed changes may impact your suburb’s future development potential.
